I think I've talked about William before in previous posts - well for those of you that don't know, he is my second Cousin (my Cousin, Christie being his Mother). Here he is with Christie and her partner, Brett. Such a cute baby, I'm looking forward to seeing him in a couple of weeks when I'm down in Christchurch. No doubt Tim would roll his eyes if he saw this post and think that I am going clucky and all (and I probably am! lol!). Ah well. As for today in Wellington, we are going househunting once again, we are looking at an open home in Pinehaven, in the hutt valley. Click here to check it out:

One of my students took this photo.... I really like it, therefore, I would like to share it with everybody else.

It just really captures the beauty of a late summer's day - the sun waning, the wind slowly cooling, the last blooms of summer flowering. A fleeting moment in time. A beautiful thing.

It makes you wonder why we desire more......

The baking Marathon of 2007

God, tonight I baked. I probably baked more than a suburban housewife does in a year! I came home and I baked and baked and baked some more. Then I took photos of some of the food I took and sent them to Tim so his mouth could water in envy :D Of course, I also had to take a picture of me in my sexy apron, so Tim would miss me all the more while he was over in Sydney. Oh yeah, just looking at the photo, you can see my greenstone necklace. Well, that was a recent purchase in Greytown, after Tim noticed me wearing his greenstone necklace and got upset and demanded I give it back and get one of my own. He then realised that you cannot buy your own piece of greenstone, but have to be given it, so off we went to the greenstone shop in Carterton. Actually, I'm exaggerating slightly (so what else is new, I can hear you saying) but hey! everyone likes the idea of a wife who is slowly driving her husband mad with her demands and peculiarities~! oh yeah, if you were wondering why there are no captions in the previous blog entry, its because i got too lazy to write them in. Go figure.

Annabel's visit to Wellington

Yesterday heralded the arrival of Annabel to Wellington - accompanied by her boyfriend, Mark. I've known Annabel ever since we first met in 3rd form - two rather short, geeky girls, with matching long blonde hair. We've both come a long way since then - now sporting rather short hair, and although I'm still rather on the short side, Annabel is far from short now. We've had our share of drama since those carefree days at Girl's High (ha!) and she is now residing in London, while I somehow made my way up here to Wellington (and got married in the process :D). So I found out a few days ago that she'd be spending a night in Wellington and thought it'd be fun to catch up. And it turns out it was lots of fun catching up.

A big group of us kicked off the evening by meeting at a resturant called 'Stella', which funnily enough, was located inside the Reading Cinema complex. That was followed by a trip to 'Mighty Mighty', where there was a bizarre Table Tennis tournament being held in the bar..... and spare raquets on every table for anyone that felt like joining in! and not just any Table Tennis, but a game where around 12 people would play simultaneously. For instance, someone would serve, someone else would hit the ball, and then some other person would come in on the other side and hit the ball back.... to someone else! and if you missed you were immediately disqualified. So that was a rather interesting thing to watch whilst in a tequila induced haze! nonetheless, we made the most of the comfy Armchairs and ambient lighting at Mighty Mighty (trying, but not succeeding to block out the way too loud country music that was blasting through the speakers, and accompanying the table tennis players. Nice). I had decided to wear a peroxide blonde wig that night, so I fitted in nicely to the country theme that seemed to be overtaking the club - just call me 'Daisy Duke'! (but with longer shorts).
Ah, fun times were to be had by all. We spent most of the evening, of course, convincing Annabel and Mark why they should move to Wellington. I swear I'm biased, but it is the best city in the world!

Sunday (today) has so far been perfect and Tim has just left for Band practice. He cooked us all an amazing breakfast today of Eggs Benedict. Lizzie and Brett also popped in to say hi, as they were passing through Wellington on their way back to Christchurch. So I got to see my little sister, and one of my oldest friends. A good day, and a nice way to finish an interesting weekend. Roll on next week (and four weeks to go till holidays, yay!)

Newtown Fair!

The day dawned, bright and luminescent.... a clear blue sky and barely any wind (except when Tim was around, haha). A perfect day for cruising around the Newtown fair. Many bargains were found - such as Fi's $5 tattoo - and 'Ring of Fire' chilli sauce for only $4. We marvelled at the stalls - one of which was serving a bean dish from the biggest pot we'd ever seen! and the throngs of people that had descended onto our normally quiet (yet quirky) suberb. And Fi was able to enjoy the fair with the added benefit of being able to smell everything through her new $10, 000 nose! All kinds of food was on offer - from Samoan, Chinese, Spanish, Chilean and Indian. Fi couldn't get over all the tempting aromas and had to make a dash back home before she succumbed and tried something from every stall. However, she couldn't resist getting a fake tattoo of a celtic cross, which she got strategically placed on her right wrist. All in all, a spectacular day in Newtown, Wellington's funkiest suberb.
